Battery compartment is clean, and it comes with AC cord. I have not tried to record on the cassettes. The tape head could use a cleaning due to age, and deck A new belt, that's it in nutshell. The CD works great, as does the AM/FM radio.
Tape B is fine, and all the controls on both decks work FF, REW, Play, record, pause. Emerson model AC2505 Vintage Boombox AM/FM Dual Cassette CD player Recorder EQ, all devices work the tape A B work, but a tends to lag bit due belt being loose, and I do not have one replace it.
