I use rechargeable batteries and that works great. It has good mid range and treble but not the deep bass of a sub woofer. I'll be adding boomboxes to for a while. Tape deck 1 has full functionality-all features work.
Takes 10 batteries. This Hitachi boombox does get really loud. It has bass just not deep. Tape deck 2 spins the motor but none of fast forward, rewind, play or record work because there must be a worn out rubber belt most likely.
Comes with a power cord. A little bit of light surface rust forming on the speaker grills with more left. I have about 40 boomboxes and to downsize some unfortunately. The radio works great and tunes in stations well.
You can line in your phone or mp3 player to have current playlist.
