I recently got the belt replaced in my deck and it cost a bundle as tech said was hard to get there. My ex-brother in law had the 550 and was what got me to notice these units. Level controls and a decent LCD display that will light up if needed.
The speakers also detach and are 3 way. Jvc portable stereo boombox the pc550there were two incarnations of this. The 550 was black and 55 silver. The pc-55 and pc-550.
Is the rare black color, and I just had rear LCD display lights changed so they are good to go for many years come. The sound quality off deck portion isn't too bad either. This unit works on north American 120 v, comes with ac cord, 12 dc or 8 batteries not included.
Dimensions: w 23. Both are 23. Even has two mike inputs to do just that. Not sure about the 55.
Full tested plays cassettes Greta sounds awesome radio works great, so scratchy sound from the volume but other than that this unit is a great throwback in time. These typically are sought after. I have the 55 model myself. Not much low end on these though, but for the time its typical.
The 550 unit was rated to 25 watts per channel. The upper portion has and tuner sections with eq section squeezed in. The main unit has a detachable handle and can be also easily reconfigured in horizontal arrangement. Gotta love these units as they were made in the mid 80s.
The 55 came out first with 550 later on. But its most memorable feature is sweet looking LCD panel which displayed tape status and VI levels, back-lit for easy reading. The deck separates from rest of unit and you can screw handle onto for portable recording. There were two versions, the 55 which is silver, and 550 black. 8 inches long, and have 12cm woofers 5cm tweeters. When all is connected together this unit weighs a ton, so I wouldn't carry it around like typical boombox. High power output.
Excellent 2-motor cassette deck with auto reverse, Dolby b and c, logic controls. Weight is approximately 12 kg without batteries. 5, very solid built weights 28 lbs the main unit is 12 long and alone over 19 lbs.
Arguably JCS best-sounding and best-looking 3-piece boombox. The silver unit had slightly less power from what i've been told. From a smoke and pet free home since new. They take eight d-cell batteries.
Has an excellent cassette deck in it with auto reverse, Dolby b and c, logic controls, type tape selectors, the back of deck you can put 8 cell batteries to power by itself or whole stereo.
