Overall the unit will need some work to restore back ideal working condition. I did not test operation with battery or 9 volt adapter. VI meter moves to the right when unit is turned on, but it does not react tuning.
Because of issues described i'm selling this radio as is for parts or repair.
For your consideration: vintage Panasonic RS-451S portable am fm cassette recorder radio selling this rare as is parts or repair. Am fm radio and cassette are both working but not to optimum specs. The item will arrive to you in working condition as described listing.
2 of the knobs for volume and balance, tuning knob are damaged not electronic controls. Unit was tested. Battery cover has a broken clip.
Ships in a sturdy, well packed box.
Tape makes a bit of mechanical noise at times but mechanism does play the what seems to me correct speed. Tape play, ff and rewind, stop are all working. Comes with ac power cord.
Cosmetically unit needs some cleaning. Portion of bottom plastic corner cabinet is cracked and missing. Both left and right channels are playing but when the rear line output jack is jiggled on panel channel cuts in out.
All new, pre-owned, used, and vintage electronic items are sold as-is, as-described, as-pictured. Line output jacks are working. Unit has scuffs, dings and scratches throughout.
Cabinet at same corner looks to have been repaired. I did not test speaker output jack or mic input on rear panel. I inspect, test and describe items to the fullest extent of my ability.
I could not get the line input on back panel to work sure if i'm using properly. When buying plus year old electronic equipment, that has not had all parts replaced with new parts, there is always the possibility of failure at any time. I recently purchased the radio, so do not have a history on item.
I could not get the unit to record with built-in condenser mics.
Am fm reception is decent. I will answer in a timely fashion.
