One speaker is detachable, but then its a little scratchy and only plays on one. I only tested using the power cord, don't have batteries to test that function. I'm including two AC/DC and Beatles tapes, as pictured. Hitachi TRK-2200H boombox, in great working order.

I tested the FM radio and cassette player FF, Rewind, Play, Pause work-did not test Record. If you leave the speaker attached, it works great. I tested to make sure they work and contain what is written on them.
