On a personal note: Hitachi boxes could use more bass, in my opinion, but the treble is pretty good. When I was collecting earlier this decade and on boombox forums, didn see anyone with box. The 8180 tho. I won't say it was common but too many people had for my taste as looks, ve never owned one is very nice and whatnot 8280 rarer. Physically, theres a rub mark on the left side of box that could use some touch up paint or, if you re one those types who likes to modify boxes, repaint gray portion as it does have other smaller spots both top corners from normal throughout years.

Another cosmetic flaw is the tuner window, which kinda foggy and yellowed but you can still make out what said on dial if this box ever had a soft eject feature, it was gone before I came in possession of 7 years ago. Could be a missing spring or something. Also, the tape deck window is yellowed but still looks clear in comparison to tuner. Almost forgot to mention that the tape door opens violently, if you can call it.

I liked having what others didn have. The only major thing holding this box back mechanically seems to be a belt. It ll fast-forward and play but the left spindle won't budge, therefore starts eating jamming up tape almost immediately. Just pointing that out.

Up for offer is a Hitachi perdisco TRK-8280 boombox in good condition. I don't know. Box comes with a power cord and not the reel cassette shown in pictures.
